Purpose:

This module aims to provide current holders of confined space
certificates with a refresher training program, in order to reinforce safe working in a confined space

Duration: 1 Day

Pre requisites:

Persons who have previously attended and successfully completed an approved confined space course, who are medically fit and Clean Shaven.

2. Risk assessment
3. Methods of control
4. Hazard identification
5. Exposure standards
6. Confined space check list
7. Entry Permits
8. Use of the following equipment
    a) Gas detection
    b) Respiratory protection
    c) Safety harnesses
    d) Ascent/descent devices

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the training program participants should be able to:
1. determine what the legal requirements are
2. perform a risk assessment
3. identify the methods of controlling and reducing risks
4. identify hazards associated with working in a confined space
5. define exposure standards
6. explain the importance of using the confined space check list
7. be competent in filling in an entry permit
8. be competent in the use of the following equipment:
    >    Gas detection
    >    Respiratory
    >    Safety harnesses
    >    Ascent/decent devices
    >    Ventilation and purging

Assesment:

Participants will be assessed using a combination of written and practical demonstrations.
